Bakuchiol — the retinol alternative - with CoQ10, Reishi & Chaga adaptogens, concentrated in a solid serum
Twist up the solid balm and glide it along the places that quietly thinned: the seam where lip meets skin, the high curve of the cheek, the patch along the jaw that no longer holds. This is not a cream. It is a reserve — a pocket of botanical butters and adaptogenic mushrooms you keep close for the hours, days, and seasons when dry, fragile skin asks for more.
What it is
As estrogen recedes, the skin's lipid architecture thins unevenly. The Lipid Gap is not a single wave of dryness — it is a topography. The places your skin weakens faster: the perioral border, the outer eye, weathered cheekbones, the spaces where expression and exposure meet. The Resilience Balm is engineered for exactly these places.
A concentrated solid serum built around two structural butters — mango and illipe — and powered by The M-Veil complex: 1% bakuchiol, the gentle, plant-derived alternative to retinol; Coenzyme Q10; and a 5% adaptogenic mushroom complex of Reishi, Chaga, Maitake and Cordyceps. It's carried by a five-lipid glide system — Kalahari melon seed oil, olive-derived squalane, hemisqualane, coco-caprylate/caprate and meadow-foam seed oil — that melts on contact and lays down a cushioning, resilient film.
It slows transepidermal water loss and supports the skin's ability to hold moisture where it struggles most. It is the closing, targeted gesture of the M-Veil Resilience Ritual — the one that protects what the others have restored.
WHO IT'S FOR

Reactive, fragile, or weather-stressed skin — your lips, outer eye, cheekbones, jawline, hairline - everywhere your skin feels dry and thin
-
Anyone whose moisturizer is no longer enough on its own at the end of the day
-
Travellers, hikers, swimmers, cold-climate winters — any context that strips lipids faster than skin can replace them
KEY BENEFITS

-
Supports visible resilience — 1% Bakuchiol works alongside a 5% Adaptogenic Mushroom Complex (Reishi, Chaga, Maitake, Cordyceps) and 0.4% CoQ10 (Ubiquinol)
-
Glides on without drag — a five-lipid system of Kalahari Melon Seed Oil, olive Squalane, Hemisqualane, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, and Meadow-foam carries the actives without heaviness.

Questions we welcome.
How is this different from a face oil?
A traditional face oil is typically a simple blend designed for surface hydration. The Bio-Lipid Concentrate is a precision-formulated lipid serum — ten cold-pressed seed oils chosen to mirror the skin's own lipid profile, plus active botanicals (bakuchiol, CoQ10, 4 adaptogenic mushrooms) that work below the surface to support how skin looks and feels over time. It absorbs faster, layers better, and does more than a face oil alone.
Can I use this with my retinol?
Bakuchiol is the plant-based retinol alternative — so most people choose to use the concentrate instead of retinol, not alongside it. If you're already on a prescription retinoid (tretinoin, adapalene), you can alternate evenings: retinoid one night, Bio-Lipid Concentrate the next. Always consult your dermatologist when adjusting a prescription routine.
How is this different from a vitamin C serum?
The Bio-Lipid Concentrate is an anhydrous (water-free) antioxidant serum that delivers lipid-soluble actives — CoQ10, bakuchiol, tocopherol, and adaptogenic mushrooms — to defend against oxidative stress while replenishing the skin's lipid barrier. A Vitamin C serum is typically a water-based formula delivering a single water-soluble antioxidant; the Bio-Lipid Concentrate offers a broader spectrum of fat-soluble antioxidants that reach where Vitamin C can't.
How long does 1 bottle last?
With 2–3 drops per application, once or twice daily, a 30 mL bottle typically lasts 2–3 months. The Miron glass bottle is designed to protect the active botanicals from light degradation, so the formula stays potent from first drop to last.
Will it make my skin oily or break me out?
The concentrate is formulated with non-comedogenic oils and olive and sugarcane-derived squalane that absorb cleanly without clogging pores. Most users find it leaves a satin, dewy finish. That said, every complexion is unique. If you're acne-prone, start with 2 drops every other evening and build from there.
Does the scent fade?
Yes — the neroli and sandalwood essential oils are designed to be a fleeting sensory experience during application. Within minutes of absorption, the scent settles into a subtle skin note rather than a lingering fragrance.
Is it safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding?
The concentrate contains bakuchiol, which is often chosen as a pregnancy-friendly alternative to retinol, and essential oils (neroli, sandalwood) at fragrance-level concentrations. However, individual circumstances vary — always consult your healthcare provider before using new skincare products during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Where is it made?
Formulated and bottled in Victoria, BC, Canada. Cold-pressed seed oils are sourced from sustainable suppliers across Africa, the Mediterranean, and North America. Sandalwood is sustainably harvested from certified plantations in New Caledonia.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Skin is personal, and not every formula suits every face. Reach out to hello@philogeni.com — we'll do our best to make it right.
Why Miron Glass?
Miron violet glass filters out the visible light spectrum that degrades sensitive botanicals — particularly bakuchiol, CoQ10, and the cold-pressed seed oils. It's a small commitment to potency: the formula you apply on day 90 should be as effective as the one you applied on day 1.
What's the shelf life?
Unopened: 24 months from manufacture date. Once opened: 12 months (indicated by the 12M symbol on the packaging). Store below 30 °C, away from direct sunlight.
